Why does my Salesforce backup appear stalled?

In alphabetical order, Spanning backs up all of the data in each object type to completion before moving to the next object type.  The progress bar will not advance until an object type completes backing up, so object types with lots of data, such as attachments, will take longer to back up than object types with less data, such as contacts.  As a result, it may appear that the progress of your organization’s backup has stalled, but, Spanning is actually still working through all of the data in that object type.

Please remember that the initial backup always takes the longest to complete, as we are backing up all of the data in your Salesforce organization.  All subsequent daily backups will complete much faster, as we will only be backing up new and modified data.
