To restore all of the emails in a nested label using Spanning Backup, you can either restore the emails from that nested label directly, or you can restore your emails from the All Mail label. If you want to restore emails in both a primary label and its nested label in a single restore, then you will need to restore the desired emails from the All Mail label.
To restore emails from a nested label only, please follow the steps below:
1. Log into your Spanning account (if logging in as a non-admin user, skip to step 3)
2. Click the 'Viewing As' button in the upper-right corner of the screen and select the desired user's account
3. Select the Restore tab, and then the Gmail tab
4. Select the desired nested label to display all of the emails with this label
5. Select all of the emails that you would like to restore. Please ensure that you have the desired date range input into the 'To' and 'From' date range filter fields. If you want to display all emails that have ever been backed up with that label, simply remove the dates in this field.
6. Click the 'Restore' button, and then the desired user's account that you want the data restored into.
7. When the restore completes, the restored emails will have all of their original labels associated, as well as newly created 'Restored From (date)' label
To restore emails in both a primary and a nested label in a single restore, you will need to locate the desired emails in the 'All Mail' label to restore from. It is important to remember that while the Gmail UI displays labels and nested labels similar to a folder structure, they are actually distinct labels. As a result, selecting all of the emails in a primary label only will only restore the emails in that primary label - not the emails in the nested label as well. To restore emails in both the primary and nested labels in a single restore, please follow the steps below:
1. Log into your Spanning account (if logging in as a non-admin user, skip to step 3)
2. Click the 'Viewing As' button in the upper-right corner of the screen and select the desired user's account
3. Select the Restore tab, and then the Gmail tab
4. Select the All Mail label
5. Use the date range 'To' and 'From' filter fields to narrow your search to the desired date range
6. Select all of the emails that you want to restore. Please note that if you select the check box at the top of the screen to select all of the emails within the desired date range, at first you will only be selecting the first 50 emails displayed on that page. To select all of the emails in the date range, click the 'Select All (#)' button after clicking the box at the top of screen.
7. Click the 'Restore' button, and then the desired user's account that you want the data restored into
8. When the restore completes, the restored emails will have all of their original labels associated, as well as newly created 'Restored From (date)' label
