What is the No Parent Folder?
The ‘No Parent folder’ is a virtual folder that identifies files and/or folders that no longer have a parent folder to associate with and thus they become orphaned files and/or folders.

How do items end up with no parent in the Google account?
Commonly, files/folders become orphaned when they are placed inside a shared folder and someone permanently deletes that shared folder where your own files/folders resided.

If you are using Google’s Backup and Sync tool to backup folders from your Mac or PC, the computers will also show up in the No Parent Folder.

How does Spanning interpret these orphaned files/folders?
During your backup, Spanning will realize your files/folders no longer have a parent folder associated with them, so they will be placed in the 'No Parent folder.'  Please note that this 'No Parent Folder' is a virtual folder only visible inside your Spanning Backup Drive restore page and will not appear in your Google Drive application. Additionally, your orphaned files/folders won't appear in your Google Drive unless you search for them, but you will always be able to restore this data using Spanning's Drive restore by looking inside this ‘No Parent Folder.'  

If you are using Google’s Backup and Sync tool to backup folders from your Mac or PC, the Computers tab will show in the left sidebar in Drive but in Spanning your computers will show up in the No Parent Folder.
